Whether you are moving or going on a very long trip across the sea somewhere beautiful and filled with hope… there are certain things you just need to let go of in order to make what is often an expensive trip, just a little more affordable. Cutting costs and pinching pennies now will save you a headache once you get to your destination and upon your return.
1 Shampoo, Conditioner, Lotion
I'm not telling you to be ashy, dirty, and crunchy. I'm just saying, only bring enough of these toiletries to get you through 7-10 days. After that, you should have settled in enough to at least make a trip to a grocery store or go exploring near your hotel or hostel to discover some new things.
On your return, hopefully you will have made some friends you can leave whatever is left of these newly discovered beauty products with, or, otherwise donate them because you are going to want to leave as much space as is possible in your suitcases for all the wonderful things you bought during your long stay trip.
2 If You Enjoy Shopping, Lighten Up On The Clothes
If you're going to be traveling an entire summer in some beautiful country far from America, chances are, you're going to spend some money shopping. If you've already stuffed your suitcase full of stuff, you're going to have an even more difficult time on your return flight getting all the new stuff in your suitcase with the stuff you brought with you and it'll be costly to ship a heavy suitcase back depending on where you're coming from and just how heavy your suitcase is.
Skip all that struggle and pack your suitcase with some air in it. It'll make the return trip a lot easier and less stressful on you and your travel companions, who may or may not be enlisted to help move your tiny planet of a suitcase.
